Fishing Magnet Buying Guide
Neodymium magnets are the strongest type of magnet available, making them ideal for retrieving or “fishing” metal objects from lakes, rivers, and streams. We offer neodymium magnets in a wide variety of styles and strengths to meet the needs of magnet fishing hobbyists, from beginner to expert.
Important information
to know about the pulling strength of magnets:
Occasionally we will hear from a customer who says that their magnet seems less strong than they anticipated. Neodymium magnets are extremely strong on contact, however many factors can affect performance. Uneven or curved, corroded or painted surfaces do not permit a solid bond. Another consideration is the direction the magnet is being pulled when fishing. The force obtained in shear (parallel with the face of the magnet as opposed to perpendicular) greatly reduces the pulling force. This is especially evident when using a double-sided magnet with the eyebolt in the edge. Due to these and other factors, we suggest choosing a weight rating which greatly exceeds what you want to hold.
Getting Started
Basic Equipment needed:
Magnet with eyebolt
Threadlocker or lock washer

Which magnet best suits my needs?

TOP MOUNT
This style is ideal for ocean piers, lake docks, bridges, and slower moving water. Also ideal for fishing from a boat. Top mount magnets come in eight breakaway strengths. 300lbs, 575bs, 600lbs, 880lbs, 1200lbs, 1500lbs, 2000lbs and 2100lbs.

DOUBLE SIDED
This really is the most universal magnet, since the eyebolt can be mounted in either the top or side. In addition to the benefits of our stationary top mount, this magnet allows you to fish in faster moving water and steeper under water inclines. Side mounting the eyebolt enables you to more efficiently drag the bottom of a body of water. Dual mount magnets come in five pulling strengths. 550lbs, 800lbs, 1200lbs, 2000lbs, 2600lbs and 3600lbs.

PLASTIC CONE COVER
This is great for bodies of water with vegetation or other snagging hazards and is therefore a great beginner magnet. The neon yellow plastic also allows for a visual of the magnet under shallow or clear water. This magnet comes in two pulling weights, 575 lbs and 600 lbs.

Cone
Benefits of a solid metal cone magnet are similar to the plastic cone cover in regard to snagging hazards. Its unique shape is one of Brute Magnetics exclusive designs. This magnet comes in one pulling strength - 375lbs.

MAGNET KIT WITH CASE
This kit contains a durable, weather proof, locking hard shell case, magnet, rope, thread locker, and a carabiner. This has everything one would need to get started magnet fishing. Complete kits can be purchased in four top mount breakaway strengths - 300lbs, 575lbs, 880lbs, and 1200lbs and three double sided strengths - 1200lbs, 2600lbs, and 3600lbs.
